R-Pattz makes wax debut at Madame Tussauds

A gaggle of adoring teenage fans queued up in central London to plant a kiss on the waxy cheek of British actor and teen pin-up Robert Pattinson on Thursday as Madame Tussauds unveiled a lifesize model of him.

The eerily-lifelike model, which sports Pattinson's trademark tousled hair and stubble, looks set to become the museum's "most kissed celebrities," Madame Tussauds said.

Some 20 fans turned up to the London opening -- and gave the waxwork of 24-year-old Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in the blockbuster vampire series and is known as R-Pattz, the thumbs up.

"The figure looks really great -- just like him," said 23-year-old Katie Sear. "His hair is spot on. It?s amazing, almost like meeting the real thing. I?m sure people are going to love it, he is just gorgeous."

Liz Edwards of Madame Tussauds said: "R-Pattz is one of the hottest celebs on the planet.

"We are delighted to be able to give (the fans) the chance to cosy up with their idol here at Madame Tussauds and judging by the reactions of the first to meet him here this morning, he is set to top our most kissed list of celebrities very quickly."

The figure cost 150,000 pounds (170,000 euros, 225,000 dollars) and took four months to create. An identical model of Pattinson will be unveiled at Madame Tussauds in New York later on Thursday.

Madame Tussauds is one of London's leading tourist attractions, featuring waxworks of celebrities like Queen Elizabeth II, Barack Obama, David Beckham and Michael Jackson.
